I found the Greek people to be very hard working - but they certainly liked to enjoy life with lots of zest and enthusiasm. Whether it is a religious celebration for a "name day" or a special lamb dinner for a friend, it is non stop partying till the food runs out or the musicians head home. To be welcomed into this lifestyle was amazing. The photos will tell the story, these people love life.
Dino's good friend Michael, owns the only restaurant in Aggelona. He prepared a lamb lunch worthy of a 5 star rating. He picked out the lamb, killed the lamb, skinned the lamb, butchered the lamb and then prepared it for Dino and his friends. The last thing he did, join us for the feast.
My first photos show how meals are eaten in village restaurants. Food is served on platters and everyone eats off the same platter. Your fork is the most used utensil. When the platter is empty, another one appears. Greek wine (Retsina) is served in small stainless steel jugs.

Next Up - Monemvasia
The Castle Town of Monemvasia is one of the most impressive places in Greece. Located on the south eastern side of the Peloponnese Peninsula, it was entirely carved on the back side of a sea rock in the Medieval times. This huge sea rock is not visible from the mainland, so that the locals could avoid enemy attacks. Originally the only way to reach Monemvasia was by boat, now a paved pathway connects the castle entrance to the mainland.
