Chobe River Delta

The Chobe River Delta teems with aquatic wildlife and the thousands of land animals that come to the lush green delta to feed and drink water.  The area is best experienced by small boats and bigger ones with pontoons.  Resorts and private companies have them ready to take you into the delta for very close encounters with aquatic and land animals.  Boats tend to leave early morning and late afternoon.

An average size elephant will drink up to 200 litres (53 gallons) of water and eat over 350 kilograms (750 pounds) of vegetation - a day!!

At the end of the day the land animals head back into the dry savanna scrub brush to forage for whatever they can - until they return to the lush delta the next day.

Good Night Chobe River Delta
